Unforgiveness feels like holding someone else accountable, but it keeps you in the prison. Jesus ties our forgiving to His forgiving.

Does forgiving mean I trust them again?
Forgiveness releases the debt; trust is rebuilt over time. You can forgive and still be wise about boundaries.
What if they never apologize?
Jesus forgave from the cross. You can release the debt to God whether or not they ask.
Why does Jesus link my forgiveness to forgiving others?
“If ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:15). Forgiven people forgive.
